Tinnitus can be caused by changes in deficiency and excess, cold and heat caused by heart dysfunction, which can be roughly divided into the following types:
① Heart Qi deficiency syndrome: Tinnitus sound volume is relatively low, accompanied by palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue, sweating, less food, and lack of energy. Commonly used are Codonopsis, roasted licorice, Poria, Acanthopanax bark, and Rhodiola rosea.
② Heart blood deficiency syndrome: Tinnitus sound is mostly small, and it is not relieved for a long time. Excessive thinking will aggravate tinnitus, and at the same time palpitations, pale complexion without ruddy, insomnia and forgetfulness, and pale tongue. Commonly used are Angelica, White Peony, Rehmannia glutinosa, Longan meat, and Polygonum multiflorum.
③ Heart Yin Deficiency Syndrome: Most of the tinnitus is persistent and high-pitched, with red face, hot hands and feet, dry mouth, night sweats, less sleep and more dreams, and red tongue with less coating. Commonly used Ophiopogon japonicus, Polygonatum odoratum, Rehmannia glutinosa, Platycladus orientalis, and Schisandra chinensis.
④ Heart Yang Deficiency Syndrome: Most of the tinnitus is weak, and the tinnitus does not stop for a long time. At the same time, the spirit is low, the face and limbs are swollen, and the body is cold. Commonly used Xiebai, Fuzi, Cinnamon Twig, and Dry Ginger.
⑤ Heart Fire Ascending Syndrome: Most of the tinnitus is loud, accompanied by restlessness and insomnia, irritable temperament, red face, red eyes, bitter mouth, or mouth and tongue sores, yellow and red urine, and red tip of the tongue. Commonly used Coptis chinensis, lotus seed core, Gardenia jasminoides, and bamboo leaves.
⑥ Phlegm-heat disturbing the heart syndrome: mostly sudden tinnitus, loud, day and night, with restlessness and insomnia, excited mood, bitter mouth, or coughing up yellow sputum, yellow and turbid urine, dry stool, red tongue with yellow and greasy coating. Commonly used are Coptis chinensis, Curcuma aromatica, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, Pinellia ternata, and Arisaema consanguineum.
⑦ Blood stasis syndrome of the heart: tinnitus is not cured after long-term treatment, and at the same time, chest tightness and flank pain, cyanosis of lips and nails, dark red tongue or ecchymosis. Commonly used are Chuanxiong, Angelica sinensis, Salvia miltiorrhiza, Peach Kernel, Safflower, and Sandalwood.
